I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but. Tim Burton was heavily inspired by German Expressionism. Specifically, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
So yeah. It’s a cool challenge. But…I don’t know. Not all of his characters were that original. I feel like if they’re being inspired by him, they’re being inspired by people like Robert Wiene and F.W. Murnau, too.
